UKRAINIAN CANADIAN FILM COMMUNITY

Welcome to the Ukrainian Canadian Film Community (UCFC)

Started in 2023, UCFC was created to bring together Ukrainian filmmakers who have long been calling Canada home, as well as those who relocated following the 2022 russian full-scale invasion.

We’re here to make the journey into Canada’s film industry a little easier. Navigating the creative world can be challenging — especially when you’re starting fresh in a new country. That’s why we’re all about connecting, collaborating, and supporting one another as we find our place in this vibrant industry.

Our goal is to amplify fresh Ukrainian voices in the vast Canadian film landscape. Whether you’ve just arrived, been here for years, or were born in Canada but carry Ukrainian roots, we welcome everyone with a connection to Ukraine. UCFC is a space for mentorship, new connections, and boosting your visibility — all while celebrating the power of storytelling and creativity. Together, we’ll make sure Ukrainian voices are heard and thrive.

FEBRUARY 26

Venue
KRYIVKA, 2397A BLOOR ST W, TORNTO

UCFC has some thrilling news to share, and we can't wait to catch up with everyone! As we enter a new chapter in our journey as a non-profit organization, we’re excited to give you a sneak peek into our plans and commitments for the year ahead. We’ve missed connecting, and this event is the perfect chance to get back together!

That's not all—we're kicking things off with special guests!

Elisabeth Trojan and Elliott Halpern, founders of yap films and co-producers of "Us, Our Pets and the War," directed by Anton Ptushkin, will be joining us. They’ll be sharing their invaluable insights into the Canadian film and TV industry. Want to know what it takes to succeed in this industry? Hear directly from those who’ve done it.

Alongside yap films, we’ll also be joined by Valeriy Kostyuk, Executive Director of the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, introducing the Aid for Artists grant program—funding designed to support Ukrainian visual and performing artists.

You asked for more opportunities—this is one of them. The grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 CAD, and many of you could qualify. Plus, no PR or Canadian citizenship is required to apply!

February 26—save the date!
